Lower bound on variabilityResolved

"Read as a lower bound on variability rather than an estimate of central tendency" is the single most useful sentence about aggregate tallies I have seen on this wiki. Where did it come from? — TallySheetTad (talk) 10:15, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

It follows from the two filters: both truncate the tails, and truncated tails understate spread while doing unpredictable things to the middle. I have added a clause making the reasoning visible. ✓ Done — ForestPlotFinn (talk) 13:40, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
