Editors with a stake in a subject must disclose it and should not edit it directly.

An editor has a conflict of interest where their external interests could reasonably be thought to affect their editing — employment by, payment from, or a commercial relationship with the subject of an article. On PeptidePedia Wiki the relevant cases are almost always supplier articles.

Editors with a conflict must disclose it on their user page and on the talk page of any affected article, before editing. Disclosure is not permission: a disclosed conflict still means proposing changes on the talk page rather than making them.

Undisclosed paid editing is the most serious conduct problem the wiki has. Where it is established, the account is blocked and the edits are reviewed and generally reverted, irrespective of whether the individual edits were defensible.

PeptidePedia Wiki carries labelled supporter notices, currently from Janoshik Analytical, PeptideMeter, a reference-standards supplier, and GL Biochem (Shanghai). Supporters have no editorial input of any kind, are not consulted on article content, and receive no consideration in article space. Any editor who finds a supporter's placement adjacent to favourable coverage of that supporter should raise it on this page's talk page; that adjacency would be a fault to fix, not a policy to defend.

Having used a product. Having an opinion. Having tested material from a supplier and submitted the report. Expertise in a subject is not a conflict — it is the reason the article is any good.
