Worked example — is the arithmetic order right?Resolved

The example multiplies the mass-balance correction and then the HPLC purity. Should purity not be applied to the peptide fraction only, i.e. is the 98.6% figure already relative to peptide-related species rather than to total mass? If so the order does not matter arithmetically, but the wording implies a sequence that could mislead. — — SigFigSindri (talk) 09:12, 14 August 2025 (UTC)

You are right that multiplication commutes, and right that the wording matters. Area% purity is relative to total UV-absorbing species that eluted, which is neither total mass nor peptide mass. I have reworded to make the two corrections explicitly independent and added the caveat about what area% is relative to. — — AnalyticalAnnie (talk) 11:38, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
